Welcome to the latest edition of the World of DaaS Roundup.

Publishers are taking on Big Tech in court. Regulators just forced Google to hand back control of the content that trains its AI. And while everyone debates which model is smartest, the real money this week went somewhere else entirely: $1B for trade intelligence, $350M for market intelligence, and a wave of acquisitions all chasing the same thing, proprietary datasets nobody else has. Even the World Cup kicked off as the most data-instrumented tournament in history.

Models can be copied. Good data can't.

🎙️ The Latest World Of DaaS Podcast

As enterprises shift to AI-driven and agent-based business models, even the smallest data inconsistency can ripple instantly across an entire operation. Dr. Joe Perez sits down with Jignesh Patel of Stibo Systems and Elsebeth Gundersen Jensen of Nets to unpack why master data management can no longer be a back-office function, it's now a real-time, always-on requirement for any business running on AI.

In this episode, they discuss:

  • Why "always-on" digital economies leave zero room for data errors, and how those errors cascade across operations.

  • How agent-based business models are forcing a shift from batch to real-time master data management.

  • Why data governance has moved from a compliance checkbox to a core enabler of AI adoption.

  • What enterprises get wrong when they invest in AI without first fixing their data foundations.

  • The practical steps companies are taking to make their data "AI-ready" in real time.

An Unexpected Data Read For Today.

Today's the day. The 2026 World Cup kicks off with the most data-saturated tournament in football history.

Every one of the 1,248 players has been digitally body-scanned into a 3D avatar. The official match ball transmits 500 data points per second via an embedded sensor. Stadium cameras track 29 data points on each player's body in real time. And every team gets access to "Football AI Pro," a generative tactical assistant powered by Lenovo.

For 39 days, 16 stadiums across 3 countries will generate more structured sports data than any tournament in history, feeding broadcasters, bettors, scouts and fans in real time.

Where Data Meets Art

What if a dataset had texture? Weight? Grain?

"The Data at Hand: Data Physicalizations of Earth and Space," a collaboration between Northeastern University's Gallery 360 and Mills College Art Museum, explores "data physicalization", translating raw datasets about Earth and space into sculptural objects made of fiber, wood, and glass. Artist Nathalie Miebach has spent 20 years turning weather and climate data into woven sculptures you can touch.

The exhibition expands and reopens at the Oakland campus this fall, proof that the most interesting datasets aren't always the ones on a screen.
